Every Sunday, before markets open, we run the same preparation process. It's not glamorous. But it's what separates reactive trading from structured trading. Here's how we approach it — and how you can apply the same thinking.

How We Prepare for a New Week
We never walk into Monday cold.
Our preparation starts with recalibration checks. We review how our models performed in the prior week. Did signals hit expected targets? Where did the model underperform? This isn't about second-guessing every trade. It's about identifying systematic drift before it compounds.
Next comes pair filter updates. Not every asset deserves active coverage every week. We rank pairs and instruments by liquidity, spread conditions, and correlation clustering. Low-liquidity environments get deprioritised. Overexposed correlations get flagged so we're not doubling up on the same risk.
We also run a recovery tier review. This means checking which positions or signal categories are in drawdown. We apply tighter filters to recovering instruments. We don't chase losses with aggressive sizing.
Finally, we do a full economic calendar scan for the week. Every scheduled high-impact event gets mapped to the assets it affects. That shapes our signal timing, not just our direction.

What Moves Markets on Monday
Monday open is its own beast.
Gap risk is highest at the week's first tick. News breaks over the weekend. Sentiment shifts. Price can open significantly away from Friday's close. We factor this into signal triggers — we don't assume the market opens where it closed.
Session overlap timing matters enormously. The first major liquidity window is the London open. For forex, this is typically where the week's initial momentum forms. For indices and crypto, we also watch the US pre-market session closely.
Liquidity patterns at open are thinner than mid-week. Spreads are often wider. Slippage risk is higher. Our models reduce position size during the first 30–60 minutes of major session opens. You should consider doing the same.
The lesson: Monday is for orientation, not aggression.

Economic Calendar Awareness
We don't predict central bank decisions. Nobody can do that reliably.
What we can do is prepare for the volatility that surrounds them.
This week — like most weeks — will contain scheduled events that move markets. Rate decisions. Inflation prints. Employment data. Each one carries a volatility window. Typically, that's 15–30 minutes before release and up to two hours after.
Here's how we think about it:
- Before the event: reduce exposure on affected pairs. Spreads widen. Models become less reliable.
- During the release: we don't trade. The spread-to-signal ratio breaks down completely.
- After the event: we wait for price to stabilise before re-entering. Usually 15–30 minutes minimum.
You don't need to know what will happen. You need to know when the risk window opens.

Adjusting Risk for Volatility
When volatility is expected to shift, position sizing has to shift too.
Our models use dynamic position sizing tied to recent volatility readings. If ATR (Average True Range) on a pair has expanded significantly, we reduce unit size to keep risk-per-trade consistent in pound/dollar terms.
Manual traders can apply the same logic. A simple rule: if a pair's daily range has doubled versus its 20-day average, halve your usual position size. Your risk stays the same. Your exposure adjusts.
This isn't timidity. It's precision.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you publish signals during high-impact news events?
No. We pause signal delivery during major scheduled releases. Protecting accuracy matters more than volume.
How far in advance do you update signal filters for the week?
Our preparation runs every Sunday before London markets open. Filters are live before Monday's session starts.
Can free tier members access the economic calendar signals?
Free tier members receive the same signals as VIP — just with a short delay. All asset classes are covered.
