Every week, we run the same post-session analysis. Same metrics. Same framework. No cherry-picking.
This post walks you through exactly how we do it — and how you can apply the same process to your own trading week.

What We Track Each Week
Raw pip counts tell you almost nothing useful. Here's what actually matters.
R-Multiples
We measure every signal outcome in R — risk units. A 1R win means we captured exactly what we risked. A 2R win means we made double. This normalises results across different pairs and position sizes. It's the only fair comparison.
Win Rate by Mode
We split performance across signal modes — scalp, intraday, and swing. A week where scalp win rate drops but swing holds tells us something specific. It might be session volatility, spread conditions, or news interference. We want to know which mode underperformed, not just overall win rate.
Recovery Tier Status
We track drawdown in tiers. If a strategy enters a defined recovery threshold, we flag it. This isn't panic — it's process. Knowing where you are in the drawdown cycle shapes position sizing decisions.
Pair-Level Performance
Not all pairs behave the same week to week. We track performance by individual instrument. Clusters of losses on EUR/USD during specific sessions? That's a data point worth investigating.

Framework for Evaluating Your Own Week
Stop measuring your week in pips. Start measuring it in R.
Here's the simple version:
- List every trade you took. Outcome in R, not dollars or pips.
- Calculate win rate by strategy type. Scalp results and swing results should be separated.
- Check your drawdown. Not just "did I lose money?" — but how far from your equity high did you get?
- Compare to your expected range. If your system historically delivers 40–55% win rate, was this week inside or outside that band?
The goal isn't to feel good about a winning week or bad about a losing one. The goal is to understand whether your process held, even if the outcome didn't.

Common Patterns We See
After reviewing hundreds of weekly cycles, certain patterns repeat.
Session-Based Divergence
Asian session signals often underperform during low-liquidity weeks. London open signals tend to show tighter clustering — wins and losses often group within the same two-hour window.
Pair Clustering
Correlated pairs tend to fail together. If GBP/USD and EUR/USD both underperform in the same week, that's one data point — not two independent losses. Over-counting correlated losses inflates your perceived drawdown.
Scalp vs Swing Divergence
High-volatility weeks often favour scalps. Low-volatility, range-bound weeks tend to punish them. Swing signals can survive chop better — but they require more patience and wider drawdown tolerance. Knowing which environment you're in helps set realistic expectations.

When a Bad Week Isn't a Bad System
This is the part most traders skip. Don't skip it.
A strategy with a 50% win rate will produce sequences of 4–5 consecutive losses. Mathematically, it's inevitable. Over 100 trades, you'll see losing streaks that feel like system failure. They're not.
One week is roughly 10–20 signals depending on asset class and session coverage. That's a tiny sample. You cannot draw statistical conclusions from 15 trades.
What you can do is ask three questions:
- Did I follow my entry rules? If yes, the losses are part of the system. If no, fix the process.
- Was position sizing consistent? Oversizing one trade can damage an otherwise healthy week.
- Is the drawdown within historical norms? If your system has seen this depth before and recovered, that's context — not comfort, but context.
One bad week doesn't define a strategy. Twenty bad weeks might. Know the difference.
